Chris Froome Suffers Severe Training Accident in Southern France

In a shocking turn of events, four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome was involved in a severe training accident in southern France. The crash occurred near Saint-Raphaël, about 80 kilometers from Froome's Monaco residence.

According to team statements, no other cyclists or vehicles were involved in the accident. Froome was reportedly conscious after the accident and was airlifted to Toulon hospital for further treatment.

This latest crash in 2021 may have significant implications for Froome's cycling career. His contract with the Israel team expires at the end of the current season, and it is unlikely that he will compete again this year due to his injuries.

Froome's last Tour de France appearance was three years ago, and since then, he had been focusing on smaller stage races. However, following the 2019 crash, Froome never regained his previous form.

In June 2019, Froome suffered a severe crash during a recon ride for the time trial at the Criterium du Dauphiné. He sustained multiple bone fractures, including a pneumothorax, five broken ribs, and a lumbar spine fracture. After the 2019 crash, Froome underwent surgery and was briefly placed in intensive care.

Despite the setbacks, Froome remained determined to return to the sport he loves. He had been training hard and had been optimistic about his comeback. However, this latest accident has put a halt to his plans.

Froome is scheduled for surgery on Thursday afternoon. The search results do not specify the name of the doctor scheduled to operate on him. We will keep you updated on his condition and any further developments.

Our thoughts are with Chris Froome and his family during this difficult time. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the bike soon.
